COMMON MYNAH Acridotheres tristis

Common Mynahs were introduced to Ascension in 1879. Originally from Asia, this species has been introduced to many tropical islands around the world. Common Mynahs are now widespread throughout the island and can be seen anywhere. Mynahs are scavengers and birds can be seen on the turtle nesting beaches feeding on disturbed turtle nests, around the Wideawake Fairs feeding on abandoned eggs and large flocks occur around the One Boat Dump.
