Chromis sp.

Off any reef cliff you will find a shoal of these little fish with their distinctive white spot near the tail. The spot is fluorescent and shows up in the dark. The Apollo Damselfish is similar to Chromis multilineata. Ascension only.In the picture on the right two females have just laid eggs on the rocks attended by the male in the background (difficult to see) who has practically lost his white spot. He has fertilized and now guards the eggs against fish many times his own size. Large shoals of tiny newly hatched Damselfish attract Creolefish and Ascension Wrasse.
