BROWN BOOBY Sula leucogaster

Brown boobies are the easiest to see of the three booby species on Ascension. While most of the 700 pairs are to be found on Boatswainbird Island, this species is also found on offshore stacks near English Bay and Comfortless Cove. Brown Boobies also feed in inshore waters more frequently than the other booby species and can often be seen from the pierhead in Georgetown or in Clarence Bay, especially when shoals of fry have moved into the bay.
