SCORPIONFISH , SPOTTED / "GURNARD"

Scorpaena plumieri

Only the eyes and fins give it away! It is so well camouflaged that it merges with the rocks in shape and colour. If you are lucky enough to see it move, the pectoral fins, which look like birds' wings, are beautifully patterned in a dark colour near the body. A fish to beware of - it has nasty spikes.
